Stitch-n-Bitch at Scott Base

Tuesday nights are reserved for Stitch-n-Bitch, when we stitchers get together to work on our crafty knitting, crochet or sewing projects. We chat, we craft, we stitch, we bitch. Most recently we McMurdo Stitch-n-Bitchers were invited to Scott Base to do our crafting in the comfort of their lounge, which includes top notch Kiwi hospitality, baked goods from Bobbi the chef, witty humor from Mindy and the lovely ambiance and warmth of an electric fireplace. It was quite nice indeed.

Susan is quite clearly bitching as Genevieve and Tad stitch.

Karen crochets, Lisa reviews a pattern
and Shandra fusses with some needles.

Mindy and Bobbi (the Kiwis) happily work on their projects.
Mindy is a left-handed knitter who learned to knit
just weeks ago and is working on her first project.

Karen has been making crocheted palm trees for weeks...
might she be transforming her room into a tropical paradise?

Chatting it up while crafting away.

Quite the cozy setting.

There just isn't anything quite like a nice fire,
good friends and a common hobby.

Many of the stitchers this season are working on knitted or crocheted squares that will be joined together at the end of the season to form a quilt. This magical quilt will then be donated to Warm Up America.

Here is a picture of the completed squares thus far,
which hang on a bulletin board in HWY 1 for everyone to view.
