Because, really, that's exactly what we are...minions. Doing the bidding of some evil god called "Denver." Denver demands sacrifical weekends, three a month even. Denver is always watching. Denver is the one that brought us all down here, birthed us into our Antarctic existence, writes our paychecks and decides what we eat.
