On Thursday nights, Scott Base hosts "American Night" where we McMurdonians can escape the everyday of smurfville and enjoy the company of our worldly neighbors at the Scott Base bar. Before the bar is taken over by Americans attempting to out-drink their Kiwi friends (akin to the delusion that one might be able to out-drink an Irishman), we have the opportunity to sign up to have dinner at Scott Base (though the list is limited to 12 people so as to not overwhelm their kitchen).
On this particular Thursday, we (Keri, Mikey, Will, Audrey, Marika, Cedar, Allison, Jason, Katherine, Rich and I) enjoyed just such comforts.
